ROSS Juniors Women made the long journey to Ludlow on Sunday looking to get back to winning ways in the Midwest Counties League.

They broke the lines just seven minutes in with a Hollie Mace ball over the top which saw Millie Malsom run clear to make it 1-0.

And from a corner on 20 minutes, Meg Boardman then caused mayhem in the Ludlow defence, with Isabelle Clarke knocking home from close range for 2-0.

But the hosts fought back and a break five minutes later reduced the deficit to 2-1.

Ross (sponsored by 21Wellbeing, HP Scaffolding Ltd and The Hope and Anchor) kept their composure though and right on half-time, clever thinking from Lily Irving saw a quick throw to Malsom who played a one-two with Macy Walker, with the former firing in a sweet left-footed strike for 3-1.

Ross came flying out of the blocks after the restart, and an early corner swung in by Boardman saw the ball break to Mace, whose touch and strike were emphatic as it flew into the far corner for a 4-1 lead.

Then just two minutes later came the goal of the game as Juniors made at least 15 passes before quickening the tempo, with Clarke finding Walker who set Boardman free to cross for Holly Thomas to make it 5-1.

Walker hit the post with an excellent strike on 68 minutes, but a sixth followed seven minutes later when Keira Brain gave the keeper no chance with an excellent strike, with the win leaving Ross third.

Meanwhile, the score was more akin to rugby for Ross Ladies at Tenbury in the Herefordshire Women's League, as they ran out incredible 22-0 winners, Hannah Jenkins scoring eight and Nicola Wall four.

Summer Richardson-Wall opened the scoring in the first minute with a powerful run and shot from the edge of the box, and from then on the goals kept flowing, with the score 12-0 at the break.

The second half saw Ross (sponsored by Kings Accountancy Ltd, Ross Health and Fitness and Scaffolding 2000 Ltd) just as clinical with another 10 goals.

Credit to a spirited Tenbury United who played with a smile, never gave up and showed great hospitality after the game.

The other scorers were Summer Jenii Harrison 2, Katie Hughes 2, Anna Craig 2, Immi Stephen, Lauren Davies and Danie Page Ward, with the result leaving them second.

Juniors Women host Bromsgrove Sporting Ladies on Sunday (November 10), kick-off 2pm.
