THE wait goes on for a second league win of the season for Newent Town FC after a 3-1 loss away to mid-table Kidlington 2nds left them rooted to the bottom of Hellenic League One.

The Oxfordshire villagers led 1-0 at the break, and secured victory with two late goals, with ex-Birmingham City striker Deqwon Ebanks scoring the Daffs' consolation.

At least Newent played, with winless Ross Juniors unable to play unbeaten North Gloucestershire One leaders Longhope away on Saturday, and the match postponed.

Mid-table Ruardean Hill Rangers missed out 1-0 at home to high-flying Frampton in the Gloucestershire League, keeper Aaron Underwood saving Henry Driver-Dickerson's effort on 32 minutes, only for the striker to tuck the rebound in.

Lydbrook had the measure of Frampton 2nds though in Gloucestershire Northern 2, walloping them 4-0 at home to stay seventh.

Mitcheldean opened a four-point gap at the top of North Gloucestershire Premier after a 5-3 home win over Huntley, Sam Dowle and Adam Beaumont with two apiece and one for Damon Beaumont.

Howle Hill thrashed basement boys Harrow Hill 2nds 9-0 at home to go seventh, Jack Lewis firing four, Tom Shotton and Joseph Thomas two apiece and Craig Davies one, but winless Ruardean Hill 2nds went down 5-0 at Ellwood to stay bottom.

Lydbrook 2nds beat Sling 3-0 at home to go third in NG1 despite finishing with 10 men, Jack Stacey, James Turley and Carl Stevens the scorers.

Second-placed Ruardean United kept the pressure on NG2 leaders Mushet & Coalway with a 6-0 win away to Broadwell A, the goals from six different scorers netted by Sam Humble, Oliver Pearson, Alex Rowles, Ollie Rocke, Josh Street and Jake Macalister Hedges.

And two goals from Jean Alvarez secured a 2-0 win for Mitcheldean 2nds away to Lydney B to go fifth.

Ruardean Hill A also fired six at home to bottom side Rank 2nds in NG3, Aaron Barnett with a hat-trick and solo strikes from Anthony Hull, Lee Johnson and Cameron Peachey.
