SIXTY two members of Ross Golf Club's Senior 55+ section were in attendance to witness the appointment of Douglas Graham as 2025/26 seniors captain, and recognise the considerable contribution of outgoing captain Paul Burry during his 12 months at the helm, reports KEITH RAY.
Nigel Fullerton was duly installed as Doug's vice-captain and tributes were made to Phil Dicks who stood down as match secretary after several years of outstanding service.
The important role sees Andy Moszczynski taking charge working in tandem with Jo Hiram who continues as fixture secretary.
Doug will also have the ongoing benefit of a committee packed with experience which includes Andy Baldwin as secretary, Colin Price as competition secretary and Kevin Murphy as treasurer.
The AGM and splendid lunch thanks to club caterer John Devine and his team followed the customary 16 holes stableford competition, in which not the first time since he joined the Gorsley-based club nine months ago, Steve Sanders found the top spot on the final results sheet.
Having returned to the game he left 25 years ago and still armed with his new golf clubs as recommended by Ross Club's Tim Hall School of Golf team, Steve amassed his impressive 40 points total playing eight shots better than his current handicap.
Steve was followed by Andy Petersen and Dave Roberts with 36 points, Tim Lewis and Chris Tweedale with 35 points and several 34 points scorers represented by Geoff Walsh, Bill Knapper, Mark Whitmore, Paul Dobbs and Graham Weare.
