ROSS Golf Club's restaurant was buzzing with excitement at the annual Junior Presentation Evening, reports KEITH RAY.

Over 60 attendees packed the clubhouse, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere that highlighted the talent and camaraderie within the junior section.

The presentation was led by Ross junior captain, James Sayce, and club captain, Mark Whitmore, who did an excellent job handing out the club board competition awards.

The club's professionals, James Dobbs and Zach Galliford, who as current Welsh PGA Champion provided an additional significance for everyone, took the stage to present the group coaching awards, recognising the hard work, dedication and progress made throughout the year.

With the Tim Hall School Of Golf providing a nurturing environment where juniors can develop their skills, build friendships, and create lifelong memories, junior 2024 captain James Sayce is leading the way with a call up to the Gloucestershire Golfing Union U18s, alongside Billy and Oli Walker for the U16s and Harvey Gunn the U14s.

All four have enjoyed great seasons and fully deserve the plaudits, while Oli Walker learnt of his nomination as 2025 Ross juniors captain, to be confirmed at the club's AGM in March, which will have given him a special sense of achievement.

Previous junior captain Leo Powell is following in the footsteps of his brother Niall, with a verbal commitment for a US Scholarship at Midland College in Texas.

He has enjoyed an impressive season both at the club and county level and took the opportunity to share with members his pride, and acknowledge everyone's appreciation of the pivotal roles played by James and Zach over the past few years.

These sentiments were repeated by brothers Aidan and Ollie Evans when collecting their cups and trophies during a season of considerable learning, resulting in significant improvements in their handicaps.
