LYDBROOK Athletic won an epic penalty shoot-out to go through to the next round of the Gloucestershire FA Senior Cup on Saturday.

The Wyesiders made it 1-1 with a late equaliser at Tetbury Town and then finally won through 15-14 on spot kicks.

Elsewhere, two goals from Steve Clark put Gloucestershire County League Ruardean Hill Rangers through 2-0 at home to Charfield.

Newent Town 1st XI didn't have a game at the weekend, but their Development team perhaps unsurprisingly crashed out of the same competition 6-1 at home to Tewkesbury 1sts, Billy Osemwengie with their second half consolation.

North Gloucestershire 2 leaders Ruardean United were also in cup action, winning through 2-1 away to Minchinhampton 2nds in the Gloucestershire Minor Cup North thanks to goals from Alex Rowles and Leighton Beach.

In league action, a Joseph Thomas hat-trick secured a 3-1 home win at Weston playing fields for Howle Hill over Broadwell 2nds in North Gloucestershire Premier.

Leaders Huntley made it four wins from four with a 3-0 victory at Blakeney, matched by Mitcheldean who won 3-2 at home to Ruardean Hill 2nds to sit second on goal difference.

Ross Juniors were without a game in NG1 after their match at Sling was postponed, but Longhope went top with a 4-3 win at home to Lydbrook 2nds.

Mitcheldean 2nds climbed out of the NG2 basement with their first win of the season, beating Bream Amateurs 2nds 5-1 away to swap places with the Foresters in the bottom two.

And Lydbrook A went second in NG3 with a 3-1 win away to Ruardean Hill A, Kirt Jones with the consolation.
