LAUREN Creed blasted four goals as Ross Juniors Women launched their Mid West Counties campaign in style with an 8-0 home win over Wyre Phoenix on Sunday.
It was only 1-0 at half-time, but the fitness of the 21Wellbeing, HP Scaffolding Ltd, and Hope and Anchor-sponsored hosts saw the floodgates open after the break.
Juniors flew out of the blocks and took the lead on five minutes when some good hold up play from Lily Irving saw her feed Creed to finish for 1-0.
A fine effort from Macy Walker on 28 minutes rattled the bar, while some excellent saves from the opposition keeper kept Juniors out for the rest of the half.
Ross again came racing out off the blocks after the restart though and three minutes in Hollie Mace's delicate through ball sent Millie Malsom clear to finish for 2-0.
Four minutes later it was 3-0, Malsom's cross finding Creed to knock home, and on 58 minutes an excellent run and pass from Walker saw her make it 4-0 and complete her hat-trick.
Ross were now dominating, and the fifth came on 63 minutes when Creed returned the favour to Walker who fired home.
With 10 minutes left Ruby Wood found the top corner for 6-0 before Mace smashed home a long range effort on 84 minutes and Walker finally got the goal she deserved three minutes from time after a solo run and finish.
Ross Ladies also continued their fine start to the Herefordshire Women's League season with a 4-0 away win against Ledbury.
Juniors made an excellent start scoring in the first minute through a stunning strike from Hannah Jenkins, but couldn't break through again before half-time.
But the Ladies – sponsored by Kings Accountancy Ltd, Ross Health and Fitness and Scaffolding 2000 Ltd – scored three more goals to win convincingly, Jenkins firing her second, and Ebony Cole and Grace Semple also on target.
The Women play Worcester United away this Sunday, while the Ladies have a weekend off.
