IMPROVEMENTS to a bus service between Ross-on-Wye and Gloucester have been announced by Stagecoach West, write Will Luker.
From Sunday, January 26, the 33 Service will now expand to include the St Mary’s Garden Village development, just off the A40.
The 33 towards Gloucester will also stop near John Kyrle High School and journeys between Ross and Hereford will continue to stop inside the school grounds.
Links and connections along Ledbury Road will also improve.
However, bus stops near the Camp Road/Gloucester Road junction will no longer form part of the 33 route, but Stagecoach West say passengers are already well catered for at this point by an alternative bus provision.
The changes come on the back of feedback with the expansion delivered thanks to funding from Herefordshire Council.
Chris Hanson, managing director, Stagecoach West said: “We have worked closely with Herefordshire Council and we’re delighted to be serving the residents of St Mary’s Garden Village and look forward to welcoming some new faces on board.
The improvements will also make life easier and more convenient for students and staff at John Kyrle High School, which is a bonus.
“As with any service update, we urge those who frequently use the 33 to familiarise themselves with the new and improved timetable.”
Meanwhile the problem with the overcrowding of the 7.33am 33 bus service from Ross to Hereford, which became problematic at the start of academic year, is still under review while Stagecoach West considers what can be done to minimise any inconvenience.
