Ross took another huge step to securing their place in Gloucester Premier next season with another home win against a good Richians outfit who gave the Ross defence a thorough work out last Saturday.

The visitors came to play and moved the ball quickly through the hands and from the ruck in the first half, however, the Ross defence held firm but when Ross got territory and possession they were clinical. This made the difference in the first half, every time Ross got into the Richians twenty two they came away with points, first from the boot of Thai Hayward, then a well worked try wide out on the left by Ali Rees saw Ross take an 8-0 lead. As the half came to a close fullback Gareth Holdsworth cut inside the Richians defence and had too much pace scoring a try which Thai converted to take Ross into the break 15-0 ahead

An early Ben Element try, again converted by Thai, took Ross into a comfortable 22-0 lead. Richians continued to move the ball and, eventually the passes stuck and they got their opening try, to pull back to 22-7 however Ross added their fourth and Gareth Holdsworth’s second to move 27-7 ahead. Richians never gave up and added two late tries but Ross closed out the game with another critical win.

This Saturday Ross are at home against Evesham in the North Mids cup, a 2.30pm kick off.
