Ross closed to within a single point of guaranteed promotion, with two games left of the season, after an emphatic win at Bredon last Saturday with a score of 17-73.

As the scoreline suggests, the result was not in doubt and by the end of the first quarter, as Ross raced to an early 26-0 lead, and although Bredon never gave up, scoring three tries themselves, the result was a convincing bonus point win, taking Ross ten points clear of third place Old Cryptians with only a maximum ten points left for Cryptians to chase.

Ross just need one more point to secure consecutive promotions. Alex Davies opened the scoring after some slick offloading put him clear, Thai converted and Ross were 7-0 up within five minutes. From there the tries came at regular intervals and Ross were 33-7  clear at the break and by the close were clear 73-17 victors.

To their credit, Bredon never gave up but Ross had too much firepower, winning the collisions and getting too much front foot ball, from which their offloasding game proved far too difficult to contain.

On Saturday, March 30th, Ross take a break from league action, taking on Drybrook at Greytree in the Forest combination cup, a 2.30pm kick off. The weather is set fair for a great local derby game .
