In glorious weather and perfect playing conditions, the Gorsley based Ross Golf Club’s ‘hidden gem’ tree-lined course recently hosted their annual PGA Pro-Am sponsored by Casino Tours Abroad.
With 21 teams taking part the event was ultra-competitive with the home players taking full advantage resulting in current Ross Club men’s Champion, Cam Haines, Andy Crispe, Justin Halfpenny and Enmore Golf Club Professional David Dixon topping the final score-sheet with a fantastic 86 points total from the best 2 scores from 4 stableford format.
It proved the ideal opportunity for Ross Club Captain Sally Fycun to shine and with Nadia Stirling, Antony Graham and Tenby Golf Club Professional Matthew Moseley, her team were runners-up on count-back with 84 points. This left Murray Thomson, Alistair Watkins, Paul Reynolds and their Brickhampton Court Golf Club Professional Ross Langdon in 3rd place also with 84 points.
Ryan Pope from Exeter GC, who scored 5 birdies won the professionals event with a 3 under par total and the home Club’s Assistant Professional Zach Galliford was pleased with his gross level par 72 round to claim the 6th place prize monies. Another home player in Dave Daniels was also able to celebrate in style after a superb ‘hole in one’ on the 7th hole. The Ross Club’s Director of Golf Tim Hall paid tribute to the generous support received from sponsors and valued appreciation of the Club’s greenkeeping team in the care of Dylan Stokes.
