Ross Juniors U10’s claimed a last-gasp victory this weekend with an away win against a very good Phoenix side.
After a slow start Ross managed to get into their stride, with the defence of Jack, Ollie S and Yash dealt with the opposition attackers really well.
Despite the Ross defence’s best efforts however Phoenix took the lead with an unstoppable shot from long distance finding the top corner for the opening goal of the match.
Ross responded by creating a couple of chances but found the Phoenix goalkeeper in great form as he helped preserve his team’s lead through to half-time.
Ross had the advantage of having the slope in their favour for the second half and their attacking play was especially good to watch, with Noah B keeping the width well out wide and Noah S and Ollie covering plenty of distance in the centre.
Ross finally got on the score-sheet when Ollie J beat two players before cutting inside and finishing low with a left foot shot.
Phoenix hit back with a couple of chances of their own but Dylan and Nate proved unbeatable in the Ross goal.
When outfield Nate played his best game to date and Dylan made a brilliant point blank save to stop a certain goal.
Ross finished the match strongest and duly got their reward with Ollie J finding the bottom corner with a superb shot in what proved to be the last kick of the game, to seal a great result.
Meanwhile Ross Juniors U6’s made the trip to Toros FC on Saturday, March 14 to play their team mixed of mainly U6’s and a few U7’s.
The club would like to thank Gareth at Toros FC for organising and hosting the game, and look forward to welcoming the team back to Ross once the flooding has stopped.
