HISTORY will be made on Sunday, September 1, when Ross Juniors Women make their bow at the Sports Ground in the FA Women's Cup.
The draw has pitted the new Tier 7 team at home to a much bigger opponent in Royal Wootton Bassett Town FC, who came second in their league last year to Poole Town, narrowly missing promotion to Tier 5.
With the winners then set to face Ilminster, a Juniors spokesperson said: "It will be a wonderful occasion for the club and the women’s team, who will give everything they can on the day. It’s going to be a memorable occasion."
With club product Mary McAteer scoring her first senior goal for Wales last month in a 2-0 win over Kosovo that secured top spot in their European qualifying group, the club is certainly going places.
And having won the Herefordshire League last season, Juniors Women have already had a good pre-season, with a 3-1 win at home over Ledbury and a 3-0 win away to Ellwood.
They then pushed Welsh tier four side Taffs Well all the way at home before losing out 3-2 to a last minute goal.
Ross started well and got their reward on 18 minutes when an excellent counter attack saw Holly Mace find Mille Malsom, whose composure saw her beat two defenders before sitting the keeper down and slotting home.
But on 25 minutes, a cross caused confusion in the Ross box, and an own goal made it 1-1.
Taffs Well then forced two great saves from the Ross keeper while Ruby Wood cleared off her own goal line.
But on 38 minutes, a Meg Boardman cross was cleared to Holly Thomas who struck a great effort into the corner for 2-1.
Right on half-time though, a Taffs Well corner saw an excellent header from their centre back find the target for 2-2.
Ross pressured after the break and forced a couple of good saves, but in the very last minute Taffs Well fired home to win 3-2.
The hosts thanked new sponsor The Hope and Anchor for new warm up T-shirts, and HP Scaffolding Ltd and 21Wellbeing for their continual generosity and sponsorship.
