ROSS JUNIORS men finally had cause to celebrate on Saturday, securing a second win of the season 3-1 away to relegation battle rivals Woolaston 2nds.

Goals from Sam Thorne, Oliver Phillips and Kieran Young delivered a win that leaves them six points adrift of safety in North Gloucestershire One, but with five games in hand on their hosts just above the drop zone.

But Hellenic One basement boys Newent Town again suffered a narrow defeat, going down 2-1 at Bewdley Town after Daffs goalscorer Leroy Odiero received a red card late on and the hosts headed the winner four minutes from time.

Ruardean Hill were humbled 4-0 at Hanham in their mid-table Gloucestershire League clash, but Lydbrook won 3-0 away to Gala Wilton 2nds to go fourth in Gloucestershire Northern 2.

Goals from Reuben Fishpool and Stepehn Love fired Huntley to a 2-0 JO Roberts Cup win at derby rivals Howle Hill.

And NG1 leaders Longhope battered Bream 2nds 6-1 at home in the George Sandoe Cup, former Juniors player Florin Crainic and Richard May firing braces, backed by goals from Joseph Howard and Luke Barnes.

Lydbrook 2nds missed out 5-4 at Sling in a mid-table NG1 thriller.

And Ruardean United were thumped 5-0 in their NG2 table-top battle away to Mushet & Coalway 2nds, while Lydbrook A missed out 4-1 at home to Milkwall 2nds in NG3.

There was also a rare loss for Ross Juniors Women in their Mid West Counties clash at Kingfishers in Redditch, Millie Malsom with the consolation as the hosts leapfrogged their rivals to second on goal difference.
