IT was a high five for Ross Juniors Women as they continued their winning ways with a 5-1 Mid West Counties League win over Nunnery Wood at Worcester University, leaving them level on points at the top with Hereford FC.

Juniors were in dreamland in the first minute when they won a corner from kick-off and Lauren Creed swung the ball in under the bar before a flick from a defender sent it into the net.

The team then went close several times when Creed, Millie Malsom and Amelia Seal all brought excellent saves from the Nunnery keeper.

And on 32 minutes an excellent through ball from Macy Walker sent Malsom in behind to finish well for a 2-0 lead.

Four minutes later and Millie was involved again, some fine foot work finding Seal who cut in and smashed the ball into the roof of the net.

And four minutes from half-time, Walker drove forward and her left foot pass set Creed free who stayed calm under pressure to slot her second for a 4-0 lead at the break

Nunnery started the second period well, forcing Jess Ruck and Meg Boardman to defend well out wide with Cara Wright and Abbie Fuszard standing firm in midfield.

And when they did concede a free-kick around 20 yards out, an excellent strike was matched by a fantastic save from keeper Ruby Wood who managed to tip the ball over the bar.

But Ross made it five 15 minutes from time, Keira Brain linking up with Walker, whose effort from 25 yards found the bottom corner.

Nunnery had the final word though, their striker breaking free to fire a consolation.

Next up for Juniors Women – who are sponsored by 21Wellbeing, Pronto’s Pizza Kebab, HP Scaffolding Ltd, and The Hope and Anchor – is a trip to Redditch on Sunday (February 9) to face Kingfisher FC, while Ross Juniors Ladies face Penybont United at home the same afternoon in the Herefordshire League, where they are currently second.
