Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) are writing to inform you about the upcoming taster sessions that are being held. The aim of these sessions is to give you an insight into the potential of a career as a firefighter and to support the upcoming recruitment campaign launching in the spring.
The sessions will be held at Malvern Fire Station on Saturday February 25 from 9.45am until 12.45pm and from 1.45pm until 4.45pm. During these sessions, you will have an opportunity to experience some role-related activities and receive information about the various aspects of being a modern firefighter.
Our current firefighters will be present at each session and will be happy to answer any questions you may have and provide advice. We particularly welcome individuals from groups that are under-represented in our service, including women and people from ethnic minority backgrounds. Although the sessions are open to everyone, priority will be given to these groups if places become over-subscribed.
To book your place, please visit wmjobs.co.uk/job/148026/firefighter-taster-sessions-2023 and complete the form, indicating the date you wish to attend. Please note that individuals who have already attended a session in January should not register again.
If you are unable to attend the taster sessions but would like information on the fitness preparation required for the selection process, you can still follow the link to the registration form and select the appropriate box.
We are committed to promoting inclusive recruitment processes and all applicants are assessed based on their performance, skills, and merit, without any discrimination. Attending a taster session is not a requirement for applying to become a full-time firefighter.
