Plans have been revealed to knock down farm buildings to make way for a 10-home estate in a Herefordshire village.

Cape Homes of Cheltenham has applied (number 240328) for full planning permission for the scheme, to occupy a hectare of Newton Cross Farm, St Owens Cross west of Ross-on-Wye.

For open market sale, the ten would consist of six houses of three bedrooms and four with four bedrooms. There would be 28 parking spaces in all.

In design terms they would be “a mix of traditional and Dutch barn-style dwellings”, their “simple building forms” reflecting those already on and around the farm, the application says.

An historic but derelict farmhouse at the corner of the site would be renovated and made weathertight, though not brought back into use for housing.

This stands opposite the grade II listed, 16th-century New Inn, still in use.

Access to the houses would be by a new road entrance further along the B4521.
