ROSS-on-Wye residents are facing the loss of another key banking service, as Santander has announced plans to close its branch in the town.
This follows the recent closure of Lloyds Bank at the end of 2024, raising concerns for local businesses and older residents who rely on in-person banking.
The news was particularly upsetting for staff, who reportedly learned of the closure via a hastily taped sign on the branch door and an urgent internal meeting.
Local councillor Ed O'Driscoll expressed his concern, highlighting the impact on the community and the town’s growing population.
Mr O'Driscoll is already in discussions with Herefordshire Council about the potential for a shared banking hub in Ross.
He urged residents who have been affected by the closures to share their views.
