Following the recent government announcement about reducing parking charges at hospitals in England the Ross Gazette asked the Wye Valley NHS Trust whether this would have any impact at Hereford Hospital.

A spokesperson for the Wye Valley Trust said: "??Car park charges are not something Wye Valley NHS directly controls at Hereford County Hospital – car parking is managed via the Trust’s PFI contract.

"The Trust already offers a range of parking concessions which are promoted widely on our website, on car park signage and via staff on wards and at the hospital’s main reception.

"While we welcome the news that the government is looking to reduce the cost of parking at hospitals across the UK, the devil will be in the detail and we are currently waiting for further information to explore the precise implications at WVT. While the announcement has been made, we have not yet received any formal guidance.

"In the meantime, we continue to urge patients and visitors to Hereford County Hospital to check if they are eligible for concessionary car parking."
