A 45-year-old man has been attacked in Ross-on-Wye during the early hours of Sunday March 9, and he is likely to lose his sight in one eye.

The alleged attack occurred in Verschoyle Gardens. The victim was subsequently taken by ambulance to Hereford County Hospital where medical staff fought to save the man’s sight. He was released from hospital four days later.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police confirmed that the force received a call around 7am on Sunday morning, March 9, with a report of an alleged assault at Verschoyle Gardens.

The spokesman added: “A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm,” and that an investigation into the incident was still on-going.
