Ross-on-Wye based charity, Hope Support Services, is one of the 15 charities to benefit from Herefordshire’s High Sheriff, Mr Nat Hone, through the Herefordshire Community Foundation’s High Sheriff’s fund.
Another charity to receive a donation through this fund is Papyrus, which is Ross-on-Wye Mayor Harry Bramer’s chosen charity of the year.
This year, £10,000 was available for local groups and charities which encourage social cohesion and law and order initiatives.
Mr Hone has chosen to support Vennture, the Ely Memorial Trust, Hope Support Services, Papyrus, the Music Pool, Herefordshire Music Fund, YSS, Herefordshire Mind, Aspire Living, Close House, SHYPP, the Kempson Players, South Wye Boxing academy, the Herefordshire Magistrates Mock Trials and Herefordshire Headway.
The High Sheriff’s fund at the Herefordshire Community Foundation was set up in 2010 by the then High Sheriff Mrs Elizabeth Hunter.
The Community Foundation is a grant-awarding charity helping local voluntary and community groups. It aims to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable, isolated and disadvantaged people in Herefordshire by connecting people who care with causes that matter. The Foundation sets up named giving funds for companies, families and individuals. These funds support local charitable and voluntary groups that help keep Herefordshire healthy and thriving.
