AN historic piece of litter has been unearthed in Ross-on-Wye as part of the national Spring Clean campaign.

Sandra Brown and her dog Chico are members of the ‘Ross Community Litter Clean Up Crew’ and were on a walk when a historic crisp packet appeared in the undergrowth with a use by date of August 11, 2001 on it.

Sanda said: “It’s a great time of the year to ‘litter pick’ as lots of vegetation has died back revealing litter that had previously been hidden.

“I found it in the green space which have been recently strimmed, just off Primrose Close. It is the oldest item of litter I have found so far this year.

“Earlier this month I found another historic packet of crisps dating from 2004.”
