Young Members of Guiding and Scouting helped shoppers at Morrisons with packing their Christmas goodies on Sunday, December 20th.
The Guides and Scouts were working hard to raise much-needed funds for their HQ next to the swimming pool in Ross. The HQ is over 40 years old and, during that time, has been a base for all sections of Guiding and Scouting, as well as occasional use by other local groups and visiting groups wanting to make the most of Ross and its surrounding area.
Chairman of the HQ Users’ Group, Charlie Barbour, explained,?“Guiding and Scouting offers brilliant opportunities for the young people of Ross and I’m happy as a parent to make sure they have somewhere suitable to meet. Howdens has kindly donated a kitchen for the HQ, and we have a volunteer to help with the plumbing.”
However there is still a lot they need to do. They need a new cooker, and could use a kitchen fitter and electrician as well as needing new tiles for the kitchen.
Charlie added, “In addition to the kitchen project, we have our usual costs for maintenance and utilities, and the bag packing goes towards those costs.”
