Volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got to work keeping the town of Fownhope pristine.
Frank Hemming, Rob Price, and Heather Percy (pictured) were particularly keen that the work was done by hand so that herbicides didn’t have to be used.
Chair of the Fownhope Parish Council said: “It was great to see volunteers weeding the verge along the main footpath yesterday – on behalf of the PC I’d like to thank Frank, Heather and Rob for their hard work which has greatly improved the appearance of the village.
Several people have asked how they can get involved with similar projects.”
He added: “The Parish Council has an active volunteer programme covering a range of initiatives including litter picking, traffic calming and management of our footpaths and green spaces.
‘‘We actively encourage residents to help maintain the public space surrounding their property by helping to maintain the verges and footpaths in their locality.
‘‘The Parish Council has insurance which covers residents working on approved programmes if you have signed up to our volunteer programme.
‘‘We can also provide hi-vis jackets, safety cones, and a limited selection of hand tools. If anyone would like to join our team of volunteers or has a proposal for a project, please contact Helen our clerk at [email protected].”
