THE FOREST Vintage Vehicle and Machinery Club show as previewed below at the Speech House this Sunday has now been cancelled owing to the recent wet weather.

A spokesperson said in a statement: “Dear Exhibitors and Visiting Members of the Public, due to the rainfall we have had these last few days and the bad weather forecast for this weekend, we are disappointed to announce that we have decided to cancel this year’s show.

“The Speech House field is very wet and muddy with the slightest of vehicle movement.

“Safety of our exhibitors and members of the public is paramount to us and we hope that you will understand that we have been left with no other choice.

“We thank you all for your support. The show will return next year on Sunday 14th September 2025.”

THE FOREST Vintage Vehicle and Machinery Club’s hugely popular annual returns to the Speech House near Coleford Sunday (September 8).

The show features a huge array of vehicles on two, three, four and more wheels from mopeds to monster trucks and steam-driven traction engines.

There are also stationary engines and a range of other attractions on the field with a full programme in the main ring.

The show is made possible by the hard work of a team of volunteer who aim to make it an enjoyable day out with something for everyone.

Club members work together for the pres- ervation of vintage ve- hicles and machinery and meet every second Tuesday in the month at Viney St Swithens Club at 8pm.

There is a large event arena with parade a wide range of vehicles including military, commercial, motorcycles, motorsport and tractions engines.

There are a variety of catering vans on the field including, burg ers/hot dogs, hog roast, pizzas, potatoes, ice cream and sweets.

There will also be a craft tent with a variety of crafts, seven full size steam engines and six small engines, stationary engines, a working section, trade stalls, a dog show and competition, fun fair, model boat pool.

Owners are always happy to tell visitors more about their vehicles and many families enjoy taking pictures of the kids sitting on the tractors.

While that is welcomed, organisers ask that families seek permission first, either from the owner or by one of the show team who are identifiable by their orange jackets.

There is also a lot of vehicle movement on the field as they head to and from the main ring.

The movements are supervised by stewards and it is important for the safety of visitors that any instructions are followed.

Since being established in 2012, the show has supported a number of local charities including The Children’s Opportunity, Centre, Forest Pulse, Great Oaks Hospice and many many more.

“There are many local business that support our club and event. Throughout the year we organise road runs with tractors, Land Rovers, vintage ve- hicles and donate the money we raise to a named charity,” said a spokesman for the organisers.

There is a park and ride service to the show ground and the gates open at 9.30am
