FOLLOWING the conclusion of this year’s Ross-on-Wye Regatta, the annual Duck Race will be staged at the town’s rowing club.

The ducks are currently being cared for by Ross on Wye Lions Club, who have been training them and ensuring their fitness for the race.

Because the River Wye didn’t have enough water last year, the annual duck race had to be cancelled and over the last few months people have said they missed the event and hoped it would be staged this year.

The ducks are proud that the race is being held this year and their efforts will produce donations to Ross Lions charity, helping worthy causes within the local community.

Each duck is sponsored in the race by a £1 through raffle tickets bought by a member of the public. There is a prize each for the lucky sponsors of the first three ducks to cross the line of £150, £100 & £50 respectively.

Raffle tickets for sponsorship of ducks can be purchased on Thursdays and Saturdays between 10am and 4pm outside Morrisons Supermarket and during the regatta on Saturday / Sunday August 24/25 at Ross Rowing Club.

The ducks will gather at the Rowing Club in time for the annual race which begins at 5pm on Sunday, August 25.
