A LOCAL business, which has been continually growing for the past 21 years, has expanded into a second premises in Ross-on-Wye.

As a newlywed couple, Richard and Hayley Mayo who share a passion for good food and always enjoyed trying new things, first opened Truffles Delicatessen on the High Street in 2003.

“When we first opened the deli, it was mainly focused on local cheeses and produce,” Richard said.

“And over the first few years we learned a lot and expanded into local wines ciders and beers, and we also started making freshly prepared deli sandwiches and salads which became a huge hit with customers.

“We also started making a lot of our own cakes quiches and sausage rolls and these really took off.

“We’ve extended the shop and now have a large kitchen and several members of staff who help us out with a very busy lunchtime trade.

“We then opened our courtyard and gained more seating where people love to soak up some sun and enjoy a Truffles lunch or coffee and cake.

The couple often thought about opening another business in the town, but at the time their family were still young and dependent on their parents.

But when the opportunity came to them at the end of last year to extend the business at number five High Street, the Mayor family decided to bite the bullet and go for it.

“We’re so excited and perhaps a little nervous to have opened our second business,” Richard said.

“This enterprise has enabled us to separate our Deli, which has a wine cellar, and a cafe over two premises so we can provide so much more for the people of Ross.

“We love our hometown and want to see it thrive we’ve been very blessed to have wonderful family, friends and staff who have all worked so hard to help us get open.”
