The community is in mourning following the news of the passing of The Venerable Paul Wheatley, who served as Rector of Ross from 1979 until 1991. Fondly remembered for his modernising impact and contributions to St Mary's Church and the town, Paul later served as the Archdeacon of Sherborne.

During his tenure in Ross, Paul Wheatley was known for being a catalyst for growth and efficiency in the church and its ministry to the community. Many of the transformations he initiated at St Mary's continue to be a significant part of its ministry today. Numerous residents have expressed their gratitude for his service and the positive changes he brought about.

Paul Wheatley is survived by his widow, Iris, and his children, Andrew and Tim, and Ollie. They are in the thoughts and prayers of the community during this difficult time.
