It has been nice to see the streets of Ross-on-Wye bustling with shoppers this morning, and the Market House is looking especially busy, with patrons coming out in the sunshine.
In previous weeks, probably due to the horrendous weather, the markets were much quieter, so the increase of shoppers certainly is a sight for sore eyes.
Lots of visitors have been happy to see that Keith, who runs the fruit and veg stall, has returned to the Market House. Two weeks ago, the Ross Gazette reported that Keith had had some difficulties with the civil enforcement officers (CEO), as he is often given parking tickets on Market Days, and he felt that he would struggle to continue to do the markets in Ross-on-Wye in the future, because paying for parking tickets on top of the rent was too expensive.
Keith would park his van in the loading bay by his stall. As he works alone, he said he cannot feasibly unload all his stock by himself, set up the stall and then go and park the van elsewhere. He would also keep surplus stock in the van, and would constantly unload extra fruit and vegetables throughout the day.
Last week, Keith was not trading at the market, and was missed by many. He is back this week, but is only selling fruit. He told the Ross Gazette that without his van parked by the stall, he cannot provide as much produce as he did before.
