The Duchy of Cornwall has applied to Herefordshire planners to create a road between two woods near Callow.
The proposed road will be 190 metres long and will link Hampton’s Rough Wood to The Firs woodland, located to the west of the Ross-on-Wye to Hereford Road along the A449.
The Duchy has the responsibility for managing its land holdings in England, a large proportion iof which s located in Herefordshire.
The application states that the proposed road will be four-and-a-half metres wide and consist of local quarried aggregate so that the road could be used to facilitate woodland management.
The application states that currently the access to the woodland is very poor and this causes problems for timber harvesting and extraction. Additionally arrangements have to be made to access the woods with adjacent land owners.
