ROSS-on-Wye based covers band ‘The Forfeits’ will be performing a benefit gig in aid of 16-year-old Charlie Bowden’s Kilimanjaro climb for Macmillan Cancer Care.

The event on Friday, August 30 at the Corn Exchange will help Charlie’s quest to to raise a four-figure sum for the charity.

Charlie decided to try and raise money after his mum Sarah was diagnosed with bowel cancer back in 2019. It’s been a real journey for the whole family but after a major operation and treatments, Sarah is now cancer free.

The band, whose musicians have made the music their own with a brit-rock twist and arrangements to suit, and along with the venue, are all giving their services for free.

Ed O’Driscoll, lead singer with the band, said: “When Charlie approached us, we were all really impressed by his determination at such a young age to try and make a difference.

“We wish him the very best of luck with his climb of Kilimanjaro and hope the good people of Ross will come and support this event and of course have a good night at the same time.’

Tickets for the event, which kicks off at 7.30pm are £10 and are available online via rosscornexchange.co.uk.
