This game will be talked about by the players for a long time to come. Although Chadd got Weston off to a great start in the first half with a superb goal, there were to be two things that would dictate the outcome to this very exciting game. The first was the very strong wind that was blowing from one end of the pitch to the other, the second was the slope on the pitch at Bartestree. So it was no surprise when the home side won the toss of the coin.
For the Weston lads it was like trying to climb a mountain. The team were caught offside so many times they lost count, so with everything in Bartestree's favour they were 3-1 up at half time.
In the second half Weston were flying with the Bartestree keeper struggling to kick the ball up the pitch due to the high winds. Warriors took advantage. Brad and Chadd were too tricky for the defence to handle and the midfield of Luke, Alex Subinaya, Sagar and Scott were too powerful. The back line of Connor, Jonny, Patrick and Lewis just held their positions and had an easy end to the game as did keeper Ollie. The new signings, Christian and Morgan, also played their part very well too.
Goal scorers were Brad with two, and Subinaya with one. The strong but fair challenges that Warriors put in, something that the lads have been working on in training, made a strong impact on the game.
The Clive Challenger building services man of the match was Patrick and the Peter Hickman hairdressing most improved player was Sagar.
Warriors next fixture is on January 29th at home to Bartestree in the RS Engravings cup. Kick off is at 10.30 am at Weston Village Hall, all welcome and refreshments available.
