MONROSS Trailblazers hosted a succesful first Hereford & Borders Summer XC race at Treworgan Farm in Llangrove in midweek, with two of their runners finishing in the top five in the 173-strong field.

Held over an undulating 5.5-mile course, Rich Foster was fourth overall and fastest over-45 man in 33mins 14secs, just pipping club mate Keiron Brown in the run-in by a second, who was third fastest senior.

Overall winner was Sam Juson of Croft Ambrey in 30.03, with his club mate Mark Lamonby second in 31.24 and William Morris of Hereford Couriers third in 33.14.

Spirit of Monmouth’s Katie Adams proved quickest woman in 40.07, while Trailblazers' Elle Lumley took the over-35 women’s crown in 42.57.

Other MonRoss times were – Jack Millar 33.37, Rich Bevan 38.43, Neil Harper 40.07, Grant White 40:58, Martin Turner 41.20, Tony Davies 44.12, Emily Harrison 44.54, Catherine Finlay 45.13, Rob Vidler 46.29, Rachael Aitken 47.53, Emma Downes 49.45 and Rebecca Foster 49.54.

Offa
Keiron Brown and Neil Harper raced the Offa's Dyke 15 (MonRoss-Trailblazers)

Saturday also saw the Offa's Dyke 15, a trail race along the ancient landscape monument from Hay to Kington with over 1,000ft of elevation.

Kieron Brown maintained his excellent form with fifth in one hour 54.12, while Neil Harper placed ninth in his class and 49th overall in 2.19.51.

The same day saw three Trailblazers take on the Salomon Trail Marathon Wales in Coed y Brenin forest in Snowdonia.

Gavin Jones finished 20th in 4.27.13, with Barry Davies just seven seconds and a place behind taking second in his age category.

Sam Harness also completed the course in 52nd in 5.12:02.
