MONROSS-Trailblazers teams joined the 53km Wyedean Relay from Ross to Chepstow in blistering heat, a seven stage event down the Wye Valley organised by Rogue Runs.

Runners ran legs from 4.5k to 10k on national trails and paths, and Trailblazers were on fire, winning two legs individually and placing third best mixed team out of 42, and second best mixed veteran team.

The senior Elite team were Rob Nicholls, Keiron Brown, Faye Johnson, Gavin Jones, Grant White, Danie Ward and Dan Sandford.

The Blazin’ Squad team featured Catherine Finlay, Rachael Aitken, Adam Gray, Tony Davies, Oksana Agapova, Lucinda Lumley and Rebecca Wilson.

And the Masters team included Emily Harrison, Neil Harper, Andy Stephens, Rich Bevan, Emma Davies, Rob Potter and Martin Woodhead.

Rob Nicholls led home leg one in 38.22, winning a sprint by a second from Islwyn's Gary Wilks.

And Rachael Aitken was fastest woman in 58.52 in leg two, placing 10th overall.

MonRoss elites came home in a sizzling 4.16.37 just behind Ludlow and Hereford Couriers for third overall, while the masters were eighth overall in 4.49.49, and Blazin' Squad 12th in 5.25.40

Meanwhile, Trailblazers had a fantastic showing at the Chepstow Running Festival on Saturday (August 17), with impressive performances in the 10k race.

Stuart Morris took on the crucial role of 45-minute pacer, finishing at 44.57 for 11th place overall.

And Matt Webb finished with a time of 46 minutes 32 seconds to secure 17th place overall and third in his age category, smashing his previous time by achieving a massive eight-minute personal best from last year’s event.

Trina Sami-Brown crossed the line in 58.39 for 83rd place overall and third in her age category, and continues to build on her successes, adding another strong performance to her record.
