The highly-successful John Kyrle High School Rugby teams celebrated their success with a group photograph.

In the first year of the tri-counties cup, the Year 8 team convincingly beat Newent but then lost two close games against Dene Magna before narrowly losing against the eventual winners, Monmouth. Numbers at training sessions and the progress made from last year have been excellent.

The Year 9 team topped their league, and then lost an epic 20-19 game in the final, with many outstanding performances. It is hoped they will go one better next year.

The same can be said of the Year 10 team who were excellent in their losing final, even though key players were just returning from injury.

Pride of place goes to the outstanding Year 11 team who won their group, and also a hard-fought final against an excellent Monmouth team. In a tense final, the team held their nerve, and scored the crucial winning try with a matter of minutes left in the game.

Mr Donoghue would like to thank all the hard-working staff in the PE department, students, parents and carers for all their efforts and support for rugby at John Kyrle High School throughout the term.
