The 22nd annual Macmillan Trophy tournament took place on Saturday at Bromyard Leisure Centre. 35 teams of short mat bowlers from clubs across Herefordshire and Gloucestershire gathered to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support in this popular annual event and through a combination of entry fees, raffle, donations and cake & merchandise sales a total in excess of £1,500 was raised over the course of the day. At the end of a friendly but competitive day's bowling, Ross took the trophy by virtue of a superior shot difference, edging out Westbury-on-Severn who, like Ross, had won all 4 of their matches. Jamie Harris, Herefordshire Short Mat Bowling Association chairman, thanked all involved in organising and running the event as well as those who helped out on the day with refreshments, raffle and officiating whilst Jenny Goddard, fundraising manager for Macmillan Herefordshire, praised the generosity of all present in contributing towards another magnificent total raised for the charity.
