One of the teams at Ross Juniors Football Club will soon be wearing their new kit with a little extra pride as it includes the Royal British Legion logo. The Club recently took part in the excellent Ross Remembers event at the Rope Walk. Eighty of its younger members, many in period costume, played a gigantic game of football across Rope Walk with just jumpers for goalposts. The game was a tribute to the famous Christmas Day truce game of football between German and British troops in World War 1. The children really enjoyed the day, the history talk beforehand and were delighted to receive a gift of a leather football from the Ross-on-Wye British Legion. Full story in this week's Gazette.
