Ross Rowing Club’s Junior Academy scullers packed the boat trailer with 13 boats and headed to Surrey to take on Henley, Reading, Walton, Tideway Scullers and the other top Thames clubs at Egham Regatta. The scullers from Herefordshire made their way home up the M4 with three highly-prized winners’ tankards.
In division one, Heidi Brodholt continued in winning ways in the WJ15 single scull beating Christchurch in the final, having beaten opposition from Eton and Tideway Scullers in the previous rounds.
The youngsters took over in division two, with the WJ13 quad scull of Katie Hermon, Yasmin Howe, Islay Brevet, Jessie Punn and Niamh Hickey (cox) beating Henley in the final, following wins in the previous two rounds. In division three, the WJ15 quad scull crew of Katie Smith, Heidi Brodholt, Ellie Lown, Lucy Burden and Abbie Price (cox) blistered off the start to beat Reading by two lengths and round off another great day for Ross Juniors.
Preparations for the National Championships continue in two weeks’ time when Ross RC will descend on Llandaff Regatta for some final race practice before heading to Nottingham. If you would like to get involved with rowing for Ross Juniors, email: [email protected].
