SOUTH Herefordshire Golf Club held its annual presentation day on Saturday, September 21, celebrating another successful season with members, families, and friends.
The well-attended event was rounded off with a hog roast generously provided by the club’s proprietors, Paul Middleton and Sarah Creighton.
The highlight of the afternoon at the Upton Bishop-based course was the crowning of Jo Spiers as Lady Golfer of the Year, following a remarkable season of triumphs.
Jo’s achievements included winning several key competition, including the Winter Singles title, the Skip David Trophy, and teamed up with Becky Summers, the Winter Pairs.
She also partnered with Kevin Maddox to take home the Masters trophy and finished as runner-up in the Ladies Club Championships.
Her outstanding performances throughout the season saw her handicap reduced by an impressive eight shots.
Spiers was not the only one to be honoured on the day, as several other golfers were recognised for their successes.
Emma Breakspear was named Club Champion (gross), while Julie Davies was crowned Club Champion (net).
Anne Grindle took the title of Higher Handicap Club Champion, and Mai Bamford secured the Summer Singles title.
The Summer Pairs was won by Jill Wargen and Gaynor Duvall, with Sue Palmer triumphing in the Flag Competition.
The trophies were presented by the club’s President, Lynn Relph, who commended the achievements of all the players.
A special thank you was extended to Middleton and Creighton, and the ground staff for ensuring the course was in superb condition, allowing everyone to enjoy their golf.
The club now looks ahead to another exciting season with great anticipation.
