IT was high fives all round as the first ever senior women’s team to turn out for Ross Juniors won their opening game on Sunday.
The 5-1 win came thanks to four goals from Lana Addis and one from Izzy Dennis, and the team are already looking forward to their next game at Wellington this weekend.
The club posted: “Congratulations to our new women’s team who played, and won, their first ever game in senior football today, away at Belmont.
“This is a huge milestone for the club. These girls are the first ever Ross Juniors team to play all the way through the youth age groups and graduate to women’s football together.
“Goals from Lana Addis (4) and Izzy Dennis sealed a 5-1 victory, but this was a great team performance with the girls showing fantastic control of the match and beautiful passing football. Well done girls.”
The team is still looking for new experienced players to strengthen the squad.
Candidates can contact the club on its Facebook page or join training at John Kyrle on the Astro pitch from 8-9pm on Tuesdays.
After Wellington away on Sunday, the team travel to Hay St Mary’s on Sunday, February 27, before a first home game on March 6 against a Gloucester City XI.
