Ross Juniors U9s entered the final week of the HJFL winter futsal programme in pole position after winning all four of their previous division 1 matches and knew that all they had to do was avoid defeat in either game to be the 2020 champions.
Against Pegasus Colts, Ross went a goal behind early on but threatened an equaliser straight away with Tyron hitting the post after a great run down the left. Zak made a vital clearance before Euan went close from a great long ball from Riley. Ross were starting to dominate the play and the equaliser soon came when Tyron and Riley combined for Tyron to slot the ball home.
A great interception from Alex early in the second half saw him fire Ross into the lead before Tyron went close to stretching their lead further. Owen set up another chance for Tyron before the win was secured thanks to a great ball out of defence from Ben that found Tyron, who beat the Pegasus defender and squared the ball to give Alex a tap in but the Pegasus defender beat him to it and score an own goal.
Not only did Ross win all six of their division one matches, they also won all six in the qualifying group stage, which is an incredible achievement.
