BOTH Ross Juniors women's team are eyeing up a one-two finish in the Herefordshire Women's League after clashing in the Ross Invitational county cup final last week.
The younger Juniors Women took the silverware 3-1 a week last Sunday, but both teams are making a charge for league glory with impressive wins in the last 10 days, with the former now second with games in hand on leaders Penybont United and Juniors Ladies up to third.
Three days after lifting the cup, Ross Juniors Women – sponsored by 21Wellbeing – walloped Westfields 12-0 away, with Kimmi Tanner Joyce filling her boots with four goals and Bea Zuka firing a hat-trick.
Holly Thomas also bagged a brace, and there were goals for Lauren Creed, Eva Flitney and Nelly Penny.
Ross Juniors Ladies - sponsored by Scaffolding 2000 Ltd, Ross Health and Fitness Kings Accountancy Ltd – then blasted Belmont Wanderers 8-1 at home on Friday night.
In bitterly cold weather for the end of April, Ross took a while to warm to their task, finally breaking the deadlock with two goals just before the break.
Belmont in a breakaway then pulled one back on the hour mark for 2-1, before Ross really got their shooting boots on, firing six more in the last 20 minutes, with Jess Brain and Danie Ward bagging hat-tricks, and Ellen Philips and Anna Craig also on target.
Two days later on Sunday, the Ladies went to Wellington, which turned into a nine-a-side game on a full-size pitch, with Anna Craig scoring twice in the second half to seal a 2-0 win.
Ross Juniors Women visit Welland 2nds tonight (Wednesday, May 1), kick off 7pm, before hosting Belmont on Wednesday, May 8, kick-off 7pm.
The Ladies are officially not in action again until Wednesday, May 15, when they travel to Westfields.
