WITH Ross Women set for their first ever FA Cup tie in just over a week, some players combined with their Ladies side for a run out against higher ranked Droitwich Spa on Sunday, winning 2-1.
Ross took the lead within two minutes through Jess Brain but were pegged back after five minutes.
The rest of the half saw chances created by both sides but both goalies were in fine form.
In the second half the visitors had attack after attack, but the hosts battled hard and the defence stood firm.
And with 15 minutes left a rare breakaway saw Brain get the winner and her second.
A Juniors spokesperson said: "It was a very competitive game and for the Ladies' first friendly of the season, the team will gain plenty of confidence from this performance.
"Thanks to sponsors Kings Accountancy Ltd, Ross Health and Fitness and SCAFFOLDING 2000 LTD for their support."
Meanwhile, the excitement is building ahead of Ross Juniors Women's first ever FA Women's Cup match at home to Royal Wooton Bassett on Sunday, September 1, with the winners set to face Ilminster Town in the next round.
The club has been boosted for the historic match by local business support, including the newly reopened Prince of Wales pub.
The club posted: "A big shout out to the Prince of Wales who as soon as they heard our women’s team were in the FA Cup stepped forward to offer to sponsor the match ball.
"It’s a fantastic gesture and greatly appreciated.
"It’s a massive moment for our grassroots club to be in the FA Cup and for local businesses like this to come forward makes it very special.
"It’s a tough tie versus a tier six established club like Royal Wootton Bassett, but we will make it a day to remember and also look forward to our other sponsors 21Wellbeing, HP Scaffolding Ltd and The Hope and Anchor joining us on the day."
