GUS Carini-Roberts and Anthony James both struck superb centuries as Aston Ingham warmed up for next weekend's National Village Cup knock-out match with an 88-run West of England Premier Gloucestershire League win over visitors Hawkesbury Upton on Saturday.

The village hosts compiled a daunting 317-2 before dismissing Hawkesbury for 229 in the 49th over.

Oliver Henson led the initial assault with Carini-Roberts, scoring 64 in a 119-run opening partnership, including seven fours and two sixes, before holing out.

James then joined in the fun in a 138-run second wicket partnership, Carini-Roberts scoring 107 including 14 fours and a six before being caught (257-2) with 5.9 overs to play.

But there was no let up for the Hawkesbury attack as James raced to 113 not out, blasting 15 fours and four sixes in a blazing 75-ball knock.

And he was just as deadly with the ball, then taking 4-24, with Nic Merrin taking 3-46 and Simon Clark 2-26.

The 2nds were beaten by nine wickets away to Longborough & Sezincote 1sts though, all out for 149 before the hosts reached 151-1 in just 27 overs.

Charlie Lorton with 39 made the one sizeable contribution with the bat, while Charlie O'Neill took the only wicket.

But the 3rds won by five wickets away to Highnam Court 2nds in a low-scoring match, dismissing the hosts for 102 in 27.5 overs before reaching 104-5 in 23 overs.

Destroyers in chief with four wickets each were Oliver Dennis and Philip Leighton, while Tom Parsons anchored the reply with 40 not out.

The 4ths were well beaten by Andoversford 2nds at home however, all out for 157 in the final over before the visitors raced to 159 without loss in 19.2 overs.

Andrew Leighton with 34 and Tim Smith with 25 managed some runs for the hosts.

Aston Ingham host West Malvern on Sunday (June 8) in the National Village Knock-Out, having beaten Colwall by a single run in the last round.

But before that on Saturday, the 1st XI host Charlton Kings at Stockings Field in the league, while the 2nds play Huntley 1sts away, the 3rds host Penallt & Redbrook 1sts and the 4ths travel to face Witcombe 2nds.

Elsewhere, Jack Lewis fired a patient 75 off 111 balls to anchor a 25-run winning 215-9 total for Goodrich 1st XI at home to Parkend in Gloucestershire League 5.

Chris Tookey also scored 36 before the hosts' attack dismissed the Foresters for 190 in 38.2 overs, Harry Porter starring with the ball with four wickets, backed by Neil Price with two.

The 2nds also won by six wickets away to Parkend 2nds, restricting the hosts to 153-7 in 40 overs before racing to 156-4 in 29.2 overs.

Colin Walker fired 50 not out, Ayrton Lowther 38, Joseph Griffths 18 and Matt Davies 18 not out in the successful run chase.

The Forest Hundred Bison team also won by eight wickets in midweek at home to the same opponents, restricting them to 96-9 before reaching 97-2 with 21 balls to spare.

Jack Lewis took three wickets and Harry Porter two before Jack Waldis with 37 and Lewis 24 guided them home with an unbeaten 72-run partnership.

Goodrich host Cinderford St John in the Forest Hundred on Wednesday night (June 4), with the 1sts away to Langford on Saturday (June 7) and the 2nds at home to Westbury 3rds.
