ASTON Ingham's title push was hit by a disappointing defeat at main rivals Hawkesbury Upton on Saturday.

Victory for the hosts by six wickets puts them just two points ahead of the village side with two games to play in Glouucestershire League One.

The visitors made a good start reaching 131-3, but the loss of Anthony James for 60 – who broke the club record score with 190 not out earlier this month – then heralded a collapse to 172 all out in 45 overs.

A milestone was reached with Jack Carpenter scoring 10 to pass 8,000 runs for the club

But 82 not out from the hosts’ opener skipper then guided Hawkesbury to 173-4 in 40.4 overs to leapfrog their rivals at the top.

The 2nds got much closer to victory, missing out by a single wicket in a nailbiter at home to Tewkesbury 3rds.

Skipper Jimmy Davies cracked 74, including 11 fours and a six, backed by Dan Smith with 30 and Hugh Smith with 27, as Aston reached 203-7 in their 40 overs.

Luke Ward and Charlie O'Neill took three wickets apiece as the hosts sent nine batters packing, but the visitors squeezed to 204-9 with just 10 balls remaining.

The 3rds enjoyed a thumping nine-wicket win at home to Upper St Leonards 2nds though, skittling them out for 115 before racing to 117-1 in just 15.5 overs.

Philip Leighton took three for seven off eight overs and Mark Mathias 3-7-7, with single wickets for Melissa Watson, Oliver Dennis and Charlie Lorton.

And 68 not out from Tom Parsons and an unbeaten 41 from Lorton eased them to victory.

But the 4ths were beaten by six wickets away to Cinderford St Johns 2nds despite a sparkling 63 from former National Hunt jockey Tom Scudamore and dismissing both openers for ducks.

Aston were all out for 123 in 35 overs, but a Scudamore catch off an Andy Gardner ball and a Sam Waterhouse catch off a Colin Leighton delivery gave them real hope, with both openers back in the pavilion without any score.

But the hosts rallied and ultimately eased to 124-4 in 24 overs, Gardner taking a second wicket and Scudamore one.

Goodrich 1sts kept their Marches One title hopes alive with a 78-run win at home to Garnons on Saturday.

Seventh man Matt Young hit a great 83 not out to help the hosts to 237 all out in 42.5 overs, backed by Andrew Brown with 35 and Harry Porter with 26.

And three wickets for Chris Tookey, and two apiece for Young and Neil Price then helped dismiss Garnons for 159 in 33.5 overs, leaving Goodrich second behind Builth Wells with two games to play.

Ross 1sts were unable to put out a team for the third game running and look to have given up the ghost, slipping to bottom.

But the 2nds won by six wickets at home to Goodrich 2nds, Will Brookes (55) and Muhammed Noufal Fazaludeen (56) both firing half centuries.

Ayrton Lowther fired 80 for Goodrich backed by Colin Walker with 34 and Lee Harrington 26 as they reached 218-7, with wicket braces for Charlie Bowden and Fazaludeen.

But the hosts squeezed to 222-4 with 11 balls to spare, Fazaludeen carrying his bat and Chloe Tingle also scoring 42 and Bowden 22 not out.
