DRYBROOK RFC president Chris Tingle has written a book about his 50 years in grassroots rugby.

The book, Village Rugby: A Way of Life, will be officially launched at the home game against Old Centralians on December 14.

All profits will go to the Regional Two Severn club.

Chris said: “After threatening to write this book for the last few years I have eventually finished it.

“The Club has and always will be a fundamental part of my life.

I began my playing career for Drybrook at the age of nine in 1974.

“I hope this book will show how being part of a team, the bond that builds between people, and the principles and responsibilities that it instils in someone, can help them find the friendship and trust, that can only be built by standing and working together to achieve the best for your team, your club and for you as an individual.

“It recalls how my love for the club, and our game, began.

“It is full of the characters I have been lucky enough to meet from many clubs, stories that maybe should remain a secret and the antics that have occurred.”
