Last Friday saw Ross Juniors newly formed girls section receive a visit from four star players of Arsenal Ladies FC. Just two days before they faced German side Wolfsburg in the Champions League Semi Final, Ellen White, Jordan Nobbs, Steph Houghton and Kim Little turned up at 10am to run a half day of coaching for 55 girls aged 6-13 years old.
Ellen, a current England international, and Steph, who was voted left back of the tournament at last year's Olympics, took the older girls in a series of impressive drills and games. Jordan, who has recently gained her first England cap, and Kim, captain of Scotland, did the same but with the younger girls. The Ross girls were absolutely thrilled to be coached by their idols, it really was a rare opportunity. Some of the parents and visitors from the Herefordshire Football Association were inquisitive to how Ross attracted these players to visit. It can't be understated how much the girls' section has grown in the space of a year and to have over 60 registered players is a real achievement.
