LOCAL charity, Wyeplay, which provides stay-and-play sessions for pre-school children have receive £5,000 from the Co-operative as part of the retailer’s ‘winner shares it all’ promotion.
Wyeplay which has play sessions at the local halls of Walford, Weston-under-Penyard, Bishopswood, Much Marcle and Tudorville are delighted with the funding boost as 80 per cent of the charity’s income is from donations.
Every month as part of the retailer’s Local Community Fund which totals £500,000 ten Co-op members win £500 while their chosen local charity receives £5,000 and Wyeplay were presented with their cheque by Tiffany Preece from the Ross-on-Wye Co-op.
Geoff Lea, funding manager at Wyeplay, said: “This award was a fantastic surprise and will help us to continue providing high quality, affordable stay-and-play sessions locally.”
