The Goodrich Cricket Club Winter Sleighers ended their first season in the Herefordshire Indoor League, by winning the plate. Goodrich played Shire Bulls in the final and it was a good omen when Andy Evans won the toss and decided to bat first.
James O'Brien (44 no) and Sam Griffiths (24) got Goodrich off to a great start which Pat Millinczuk (20) and A Evans (24) continued. The last few overs of the innings were carried on the strong shoulders of Rufus Davies (28 no) and the returning O'Brien. Goodrich reached a grand total of 150 – 4 off the 12 overs.
The Shire Bulls innings was kept in control by the tight opening bowling by O'Brien and the veteran Mike Evans, who finished with figures of 3 overs for 18 runs and 3 overs for 16 runs with 1 wicket respectively. A Evans and Davies kept up the pressure and Shire Bulls were never up with the run rate. Evans finished with 2 wickets for 16 runs off 3 overs and Davies finished with 3 overs for 22 runs.
Shire Bulls finished their innings on 79 for the loss of 3 wickets and Goodrich completed a professional victory to carry off the silverware. This ended a very good first indoor season for Goodrich.
