Wendy Salter, a member of the Ross Community Litter Clean Up Crew, has set herself a personal challenge to litter pick every street in her town during September. There are about 200 streets in Ross, of varying lengths.
She is planning on tackling seven streets a day throughout September. Wendy realises this is a huge challenge. She is hoping that residents of the streets she targets will come out to help her, and it may encourage more people to make their own street, or section of a longer street, cleaner.
Wendy told the Gazette:?“I am a member of Ross Community Litter Clean Up Crew (RCLCUC) and we are encouraging people to step forward and reclaim their streets from mess and litter.
Wendy’s Facebook page ‘Love Your Street Ross’ will have the details each day of which streets she will be litter picking. She is starting on September 1st at Wilton.
Wendy added:?“It would be fantastic if people would support me when I do their street, by saying hello, offering a cuppa or even giving me a hand.”
RCLCUC is building a map of which streets are being adopted, people can look after a whole street or area - or just part of one - even just the length of a few houses will help.

Jill Scamell, a fellow founder of the RCLCUC said:?“It is our aim to make Ross even more beautiful and a clean and tidy town makes a good impression on visitors.”
She hopes that more volunteers will adopt their own street and bring back pride in their own areas.
