Children who attend the Cookery and Gardening clubs at Whitchurch Primary School, near Ross-on-Wye, joined forces to provide a traditional cream tea for their own guests.
Using produce they grew in the school garden, they made jam, scones and lavender biscuits, demonstrating their confident and knowledgeable cooking skills. Having previously learnt how to cook a simple three course dinner, the children enjoyed making and baking these sweet treats for their guests.
The children were delighted with all the positive feedback. One grandparent told the Ross Gazette:?“It is lovely that the children learn the connection between growing and eating food.”
Parents also reported that their children are much more confident in the kitchen and eager to experiment with new ingredients and recipes.
